Calvinism is a name for the general theological framework also known as Reformed theology. It embraces the "fundamentals" of Christianity: the birth, life and death of Jesus as a substitutionary atonement for the sins of those who would believe; the Trinity, the ultimate authority and infallibility of Scripture, and central to the doctrines of Calvinism, the sovereignty of God. Specifically, there are five central doctrines to Calvinism, which may be memorized with the acrostic "TULIP".
