Mkmcconn, thanks for your help with the page on homosexuality. -Aaronshaf 14:31, 21 Jun 2005 (EDT)

You're welcome :-) Thanks for the note. I love the Wikimedia format. I've enjoyed the collaborative experience on Wikipedia - although it can be very maddening working within the editorial constraints. I hope that this site, or one of the other wiki experiments with a comparable aim, will increasingly provide outlets for frustrated Christian Wikipedians (and others). Just wondering

Marc, I've been wondering how you have learned about the topics for the articles you contribute to. Would you please tell us a bit about yourself on your user page?

I used to feel safe giving details on my home page, but my experience on Wikipedia where I am an Administrator (occupied primarily with Christian religious and historical topics) has taught me to be more careful. In addition to being mirrored in and linked far more widely than I'd ever imagined when I started there in 2002, the information I've volunteered has shown up in some places that seem to have a malicious intent. This project, while incomparably modest in its ambitions, has a comparable potential for growth and abuse. But who I am is not a secret.
I am an elder in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. I'm in my fifties, with nine children and a grand-daughter. Around 16 years ago, I had been a member for 7 years of an independent Reformed church where I occasionally taught - as did many of the men. I went there after spending about 6 years in a more broadly Evangelical church, which was led by multiple elders (college and seminary professors, mostly) rather than any one pastor, where I taught on rare occasions. I was an undergrad student at Multnomah School of the Bible (now called Multnomah Bible College and Biblical Seminary), where I met my wife. Before that I was an w:athletic trainer for the w:University of Wyoming, which is in my home town of w:Laramie, Wyoming. I joined the Conservative Baptist Church in Laramie as a college student, but by the time I went to Multnomah, I was dissatisfied with the dispensationalist/broad evangelical outlook.
My mother was raised in the w:Episcopal Church, into which I was baptized. Although I only dimly remember the services and the classes I attended as a child, and our family stopped attending by the time I was 7 years old, or so, I suppose that my attachment to their idea of the church (not so much taught, as enacted) continues to influence me. — Mkmcconn (talk) 21:01, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for responding, though you did not have to go into so much detail :) Chrismon 23:06, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
I take back whatever part you don't want, then. — Mkmcconn (talk) 23:09, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
Isn't it strange how disembodied words of humor on one's screen can seem so similar to abrasive, dismissive behavior? Chrismon 15:54, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
Very true. — Mkmcconn (talk) 17:56, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

Media files reply

Mark, the current placement of the media sections stems from Aaron's belief that it will help reach those who would rather listen to material than read it. Plus, most of the audio is from reputable scholars and so we try and place that in a more obvious place. I have never been bothered by this, but many others have. Maybe we need to re-open the discussion with Aaron (the founder of Theopedia), the other Admins, and any editors who are interested in the discussion. Plus, Aaron can explain it much better than I can. Jordan Barrett (talk) 19:57, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

Summaries

Mark, thanks for all of your edits and your many efforts. It would be great if you could add a short summary to your edits so that it is easier to run through them in the Recent Changes. If you just have trouble remembering, you can set a reminder in "my preferences." Thanks again, Jordan Barrett (talk) 17:56, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

It's not a big deal. You'll see me forget too. Thanks again, Jordan Barrett (talk) 18:47, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
