John Calvin (July 10, 1509 - May 27, 1564) was a prominent French theologian during the Protestant Reformation and the father of the theological system known as Calvinism. Calvin produced an influential theological work, the Institutes of the Christian Religion and wrote commentaries on almost every book of the Bible.
