Article 5

I was unaware of the actual statements of the Tridentine Creed -- thanks for adding this article, Mrd. Interesting that it plainly states that the Mass is considered the offering to God "a true, proper, and propitiatory sacrifice for the living and the dead." There are online instances where Catholic teachers deny this accusation from Protestants -- pleading that the Mass is a sacrifice of worship. Was the Tridentine Creed mollified or abbrogated at a later date? Gomarus 07:52, 10 January 2006 (EST)

I will check with my Catholic theology expert. A brief comparison to the Catholic Encyclopedia, which seems to support all the Tridentine articles, suggests that the Creed is still in force, at least officially. It is very hard for the Catholics to ever reverse such an ex-officio statement, because it has similar authority to scripture, for them.
