The history section came by-and-large from an earlier version of same article in Wikipedia. We, therefore, should look at summarizing and rewriting to make it more our own. Other sources should also be consulted and referenced. Jim Ellis 19:30, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
- There are spelling mistakes, grammatical errors and unsubstantiated 'facts' in this article(i.e. needs references). It completely needs re-working (for example, nowhere else have I ever come across the idea that Puritans considered the Pope and antichrist - where did this information come from? Without a reference it is simply incorrect from a research perspective). — unsigned comment by 129.180.1.214 (talk • contribs)
- Thanks for the reminder. I have removed the history section since it came from Wikipedia and have added a few notes that say we need more resources (I also removed the antichrist claim). Jordan Barrett (talk) 04:48, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
- Just for reference, both the Westminster Confession (25.6) and the 1689 London Baptist Confession (26.4) claim that the Pope is the AntiChrist. It is virtually common knowledge among those familiar with the Reformation and post-Reformation history that these early "Puritan" Confessions made this claim. Granted, today many (but not all) Confessional churches take exception to this contention. Jim Ellis 12:36, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for that reminder as well, Jim. Jordan Barrett (talk) 14:56, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
