Talk:Missions
From Theopedia
What is the difference between missions and missiology? Why not have missiology redirect to missions? Thoughts welcomed. -Aaronshaf 08:17, 14 Sep 2005 (EDT)
I encourage everyone to check out the caleb project animations, linked to from the Multimedia Resources section of this article. The more we think of Theopedia as an international resource for Christians and missions, the better. -Aaronshaf 01:17, 4 Nov 2005 (EST)
- I know it's a bit late, but I spotted the rd and thought I'd chip in. So first off: teehee! Oh, I love language differences. Over here in the UK, missions are organisations engaged in mission. I understand it's the other way round for you guys. /W
- Aaron: missiology is the study of mission. Mission is cross-cultural engagement for the sake of the Gospel. It's evangelism, but with a cross-cultural element to it*. It's the difference between, oh, say, ecclesiology and the church. I'd make 'em different pages, accepting that missiology will be a larger page than mission. - The precise delineation becomes quite difficult, and of course, most Western evangelicals are stuck, to one extent or another, in an evangelical sub-culture which turns all their evangelism into a certain degree of mission anyway.
- Interesting... never heard that stuff before. I need to get out of the U.S. more. :) JordanBarrett (talk) 16:57, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

This section could be HUGE and I think it's unfair to act as though we could limit this section to a top 10 or whatever else. Furthermore, now that we have a missionary article (good call on that Jim), these could be integrated there. JordanBarrett (talk) 12:52, 12 June 2006 (PDT)
