Talk:Means of grace

Question, at this rate, won't just about every category of Christian doctrine be under the category Methodism? :) -Aaronshaf 07:55, 9 Mar 2005 (EST)
I think the following belongs in more specific categories:
Contents |
Works of Piety
Searching the Scriptures
- Sermon #27: "Upon Our Lord's Sermon on The Mount, Part 7" by John Wesley (this sermon discusses fasting)
Christian Conferencing (or "community") Healthy Living
Works of Mercy
Doing Good
Visiting the Sick
Visiting the Imprisoned
- Sermon #22: "Upon Our Lord's Sermon on the Mount, Part 2" by John Wesley (this sermon discusses "Blessed are the merciful...")
Feeding & Clothing those in need
Earning, Saving, & Giving all one can
the Seeking of Justice; Opposition to Slavery
Intent
It was not my intent to place everything like "prayer" or "fasting" under the "Methodism" banner. The "means of grace" are doctrinally important as a whole for Methodism, as Wesley dealt with them as a grouping extensively. So, while "Means of grace" certainly is an appropriate "Methodism" entry, I wouldn't make that claim for, say, "Prayer", which is in no way unique to Methodism and in which Methodism hasn't made any unique contributions (we typically follow the Anglican Book of Common Prayer pattern, a la Wesley). Is that fair? KHM03 08:52, 9 Mar 2005 (EST)
- I'll grant you that "'means of grace' [is] doctrinally important as a whole for Methodism", so that's fine. Sorry for any mishandling. I think the above sections need to be in their respective, more specific pages. Grace and peace in Christ! -Aaronshaf 12:05, 9 Mar 2005 (EST)

Aaron, why'd you remove the methodism section? JordanBarrett (talk) 16:41, 1 March 2006 (EST)
