Talk:Mark Driscoll
From Theopedia
Driscoll is not Emergent
I think that labelling Mark Driscoll as 'Emergent' is unfair. While he did have an association with McLaren, Pagitt and some other Emergent "icons" he is no longer associated with them as a member of their "conversation". While he uses the term 'emerging' in his book title, it is not to be confused with the sense that the 'Emergent Church' have used it.
Infact, Mark Driscoll has been quite anti-emergent, on the issues of Homosexuality and their failure to produce a coherent doctrinal statement. I think part of the confusion lies with the name of his Church, 'Mars Hill' which is similar to Rob Bell's 'Mars Hill'.
Either way, I am not the Mark Driscoll expert. To get a hold of him, you would need to contact feedback@marshillchurch.org
Joshua Ballard.
- Thanks for letting us know. We'll definitely have to look into that, as I know little about Driscoll as well. JordanBarrett (talk) 11:28, 21 April 2006 (PDT)
- I don't see this article "labelling" him as a Emergent. There is a "See also" link here to the Emergent church article, and I see he is listed there with a caveat that sets him apart. But I have no problem deleting his name from the Emergent page list. Gomarus 13:40, 21 April 2006 (PDT)
More content and detail would be great, if anyone comes across it. cheers! :) Atorrens 23:00, 22 May 2006 (PDT)
Actually, don't email feedback@marshillchurch.org. That email address has been discontinued as of last week. Squidge37 17:39, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
Updated Attendance
I wasn't sure if it was within my realm to fix the attendance noted...but he's noted several times that attendance @ Mars Hill is up to 8,000 Dan Adams
