Talk:Augustus Toplady

Possibly interesting and certainly sobering fact: did you know that Toplady's church in Orange Street went well off the deep end a while back? (I suspect, reading between the lines, in the 80s, so quite recently.) They've elevated British-Israelism to the status of an article of faith which is just deeply, deeply sad. Not only is it not true, it's not even important. Talk about mangling the Gospel. Sorry, that's actually rather depressing, isn't it? But Toplady's not—what a legacy he's left us with in his hymns, eh? Wooster (talk) 21:43, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

Interesting update. I'm sure Toplady is "turning in his grave" over that development. Jim, . . . Gomarus 21:53, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

The phrase questioned in the article is verbatim from the 1911 Encyclo. Britannica, s.v. Toplady. There is already a general refernce for that. I'm not sure what else to do. Jim, . . . Gomarus 19:38, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
